Removal and Installation

Front Suspension / Front Axle Hub:






REMOVAL
1. Remove the front wheel.
Torque: 110 Nm (83 ft. lbs.).
2. Remove the shock absorber.
3. Remove grease cap.
Using a screwdriver, remove the grease cap.
4. 4WD:
Disconnect the drive shaft.
a. Remove the cotter pin and lock cap.
b. While applying the brakes, remove the lock nut.
Torque: 235 Nm (174 ft. lbs.).
5. w/ABS:
Remove the ABS speed sensor and wire harness clamp from the steering knuckle.
Torque: 8.0 Nm (71 inch lbs.).
6. Remove the brake line bracket from the steering knuckle.
Torque: 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
7. Remove the front brake caliper and the disc.





8. Disconnect lower ball joint.
Remove the four bolts and disconnect the lower ball joint.
Torque: 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.).
9. Remove the steering knuckle with the axle hub.
a. Remove the cotter pin and loosen the nut.
Torque: 105 Nm (80 ft. lbs.).





b. Using Special Service Tool (SST) 09950-40010 (09951-04010, 09952-04010, 09553-04020, 09554-04010, 09955-04030, 0995-0401O) or equivalent, disconnect the steering knuckle.
c. Remove the nut and steering knuckle.

NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the oil seal and drive shaft boot.

HINT 4WD: When it is difficult to disconnect the drive shaft, tap the drive shaft with a plastic hammer.

INSTALLATION
Install in the reverse order of removal. After installation, check the ABS speed sensor signal and front wheel alignment.
