Removal and Installation

REMOVAL
1. Drain differential oil.
2. Remove rear axle shafts.





3. Remove propeller shaft.





4. Remove differential carrier assembly.
a. Remove the ten nuts, washers and differential carrier assembly.
Torque: 73 Nm (54 ft. lbs.)

NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the installation surface.

b. Remove the gasket.

INSTALLATION
1. Install new gasket onto the axle housing.
2. Install the differential carrier assembly.
Install the differential carrier assembly in the axle housing.
Torque: 73 Nm (54 ft. lbs.).
3. Install propeller shaft.
4. Install rear axle shafts.





5. Fill differential with differential oil.
Torque: 49 Nm (39 ft. lbs.).

Oil Grade: Hypoid gear oil API GL-5

Recommended Viscosity:
Above -18°C (0°F): SAE 90.
Below -18°C (0°F): SAE 80W-90 or 80W.

Capacity:
2WD: 2.75 liters (2.90 US Qts.).
4WD: 2.95 liters (3.12 US Qts.).
