Introduction

Some 2003 - 2004 model year Tundra vehicles may experience a MIL "ON" condition with DTC P0442 (Evaporative Emission Control System Small Leak) due to an irregularity in the fuel filler tube sealing surface. An improved fuel filler tube has been developed to correct this condition.

This TSB applies to vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown.





Warranty Information

APPLICABLE WARRANTY

^ This repair is covered under the Toyota Federal Emission Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

^ For California specification vehicles sold, registered, and operated in California, Maine (starting '04 MY), Massachusetts, and Vermont, this repair is covered under the California Emission Warranty, which is 36 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

^ Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.





Parts Information

NOTE

The bracket of the fuel filler tube will be reused during replacement.

Additional Techstream units may be ordered by calling Approved Dealer Equipment (ADE).

Repair Procedure

1. Using TIS Techstream check if DTC P0442 is present.

2. Diagnose and inspect the evaporative emission system.





Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS) applicable model year Repair Manual:

3. Replace the fuel filler tube if it is determined there is distortion of the filler neck sealing surface.

4. Please continue with Repair Manual diagnosis if the filler neck is determined NOT to be related to the DTC.

5. Clear the DTC(s) and road test the vehicle to confirm the condition has been corrected.
