Center Differential Lock Circuit - Vehicle Stability Control System

BRAKE CONTROL / DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS: VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM: C1340/47: Center Differential Lock Circuit

DTC C1340/47 - Center Differential Lock Circuit

DESCRIPTION

When the vehicle is changed to 4WD (L4L/H4L mode) and the center differential locks, VSC control turns off and the VSC OFF indicator light illuminates.

WIRING DIAGRAM

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTE: When replacing the VSC actuator assembly, perform zero point calibration Programming and Relearning.

HINT: If the transfer shift actuator cannot change from 2WD to 4WD or 4WD to 2WD or cannot lock the center differential, inspect and repair the touch select 2-4 and high-low systems first.

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU (EXI2 TERMINAL)

(a) Disconnect the A19 ECU connector.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:

NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - 4WD CONTROL ECU)
OK -- REPLACE VSC ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY
2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - 4WD CONTROL ECU)

(a) Confirm that the skid control ECU connector and 4WD control ECU connector are properly connected.
(b) Disconnect the A19 and A28 ECU connectors.
(c) Disconnect the D45 transfer shift actuator connector.
(d) Inspect both the connector case and the terminal for deformation and corrosion.
OK:
No deformation or corrosion.
(e) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (4WD CONTROL ECU - BODY GROUND)
(a) Confirm that the 4WD control ECU connector and transfer shift actuator connectors are properly connected.

(b) Disconnect the A28 ECU connector.
(c) Inspect the connector case and the terminal for deformation and corrosion.
OK:
No deformation or corrosion.
(d) Connect the A28 ECU connector.
(e) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. RECONFIRM DTC
(a) Clear the DTC(s) Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
(b) Start the engine.
(c) Check if the same DTC(s) is output Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

Result

B -- CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS (SYMPTOM SIMULATION)
A -- REPLACE 4WD CONTROL ECU
