Applicability
Introduction
Outside rear view mirror housing sub-assemblies are now available as separate service parts. This TSB provides service part and part number information along with instructions on how to service the mirrors.
Warranty Information
APPLICABLE WARRANTY
^ This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
^ Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.

Repair Procedure
Removal of mirror assembly from the vehicle is NOT required for serviceability of glass or covers.
1. Remove the mirror glass (Standard & Tow Mirror).
A. Push the lower part of the glass surface so the glass tilts downward.
B. Insert the plastic pry tool (SST: 00002-71368-01) between bottom of glass and mirror housing.
HINT
For tow mirror make sure SST rests on top of 2 ribs in between small glass and large glass. See Figure 3.
C. Apply pressure to push the glass in an upward direction to disengage clips.
2. Install NEW mirror glass (Standard & Tow Mirror).
A. Start with the glass up high nearly touching the housing top edge.
B. Hook the glass onto the 4 tabs of the mirror housing.
C. Insert plastic pry tool (SST: 00002-71368-01) between the top edge of the glass and mirror housing. Apply downward pressure to secure glass to housing.
3. Outer mirror cover replacement procedure (standard mirror only).
A. Remove glass from mirror housing using steps outlined above.
B. Disengage clips marked # 1, 2, 3, and 4 from the inside of the mirror housing (see Figure 9).
C. Slightly lift up on mirror outer cover and disengage the 3 L shaped clips marked # 5.
4. Installation Procedure (Standard Mirror Only)
A. Hook the L shaped clips marked # 5 of the cover onto the mirror housing (See Figure 9).
B. Press cover onto housing to seat clips 1, 2, 3, 4 (See Figure 8).
C. Confirm lip around edge of cover is completely seated and flush with housing.
NOTE
Currently, chrome mirrors are only available on "Limited grade" vehicles. If chrome appearance is desired on non Limited grade vehicles please replace cover with chrome color. Installing a Limited grade mirror on a non Limited grade vehicle will result in looseness and vibration from the mirror when driving (reference T-SB-0032-08).
5. Tow mirror cap replacement procedure (tow mirror only) removal.
A. Disengage clip and remove outer cap.
B. Snap new cap into place.
C. Confirm cap is flush against mirror housing assembly.
