Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Leak Test System

1. Stabilize system at 1500---1750 RPM. If system is empty of refrigerant, it will be necessary to install a partial charge before continuing. With gauges connected into system, adjust A/C controls for maximum cooling. Operate for 10 to 15 minutes, then shut off car engine.

2. Using an electronic tester, follow preparation procedure as given in operating instructions.

3. Move leak detector pickup under hoses, joints, seals, and any possible place for a leak to occur. Refrigerant is heavier than air and will move downward. If concentration of refrigerant is located, move pickup upward to locate the source of the leak

4. Repair system as necessary if leaks are located.
