Heater Core Case: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Open radiator drain cock and drain radiator.
3. Remove heater rear duct (if equipped), under tray, cowl side trim and glove compartment.
4. Remove air damper assembly, air duct, defroster hose and interior air duct.
5. Remove radio knobs, radio trim plate, clock and radio.
6. Remove ash tray and retainer, heater lever control knobs and blower control switch knobs.
7. Remove heater trim plate and unscrew blower switch from trim plate.
8. Remove heater control assembly. Refer to "Control Cable Assembly." Replace to disconnect control cables.
9. Remove ignition coil.
10. Disconnect two heater core water hoses and remove grommet from engine fire wall, Fig. 8.

11. Remove bracket from heater unit, then remove air duct from heater, Fig. 9.

12. Remove three heater unit mounting bolts, Fig. 10, then remove heater, Fig. 11.
13. Reverse procedure to install with exception that air duct should be installed before heater unit.
