Expansion Valve: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect battery ground cable and discharge system refrigerant.
2. Disconnect refrigerant lines at cooling unit, capping all openings.
3. Remove grommets from inlet and outlet fittings.
4. Proceed as follows:
a. Remove glove box assembly, side air duct and air inlet damper cable.
b. Remove three cooling unit attaching bolts and the cooling unit.
c. Remove idling stabilizer amplifier.
d. Remove thermistor attaching screws and the thermistor.
e. Separate case halves and remove evaporator.
5. Remove heat insulator and clamp from outlet tube.
6. Disconnect liquid line tube from inlet fitting of expansion valve.
7. Disconnect expansion valve from inlet fitting of evaporator.
8. Reverse procedure to install, then evacuate the recharge system and check for leaks.
NOTE: If evaporator is replaced, add 1.4-1.7 oz. of new refrigerant oil to compressor.
