TITLE - INTRUSION MONITORING SYSTEM
Condition: Instructions for wiring connections at fuse box and trunk latch in 1987 Celica Installation Manual for Intrusion Monitoring System are not the same as instructions for Celica Convertible.

Cause: Wiring on Celica Hardtop is different from wiring on Celica Convertible. Striker plate on trunk latch is also revised on convertible.

Correction: The steps below apply to the Celica Convertible.

1) The diagram at left (Figure 1) replaces 30mFigure 11 Page 10 in the 1987 Celica IMS Instruction Book. 30mDisregard the original wiring instruction.


Connect the IMS wires to the vehicle wires as follows:

2) The trunk latch striker plate in the convertible will require modification before the trunk switch can be installed. Stop before proceeding beyond Step 6 Page 10 in the 1987 Celica IMS Instruction Book. Use the full size template below (Figure 2A). Cut out the template and place against the striker plate as shown (Figure 2B). Center punch for two holes. Using a 3/16 inch drill, drill both holes through the plate. Proceed with Step 7 Page 11 in the Instruction Book.
