Reverse Gear:

1. Inspect speed sensor.
a. Disconnect the speed sensor connector.
b. Using a digital type ohmmeter, connect the positive (+) lead from the ohmmeter to terminal RR+, and the negative (-) lead to terminal RR-, measure the resistance between the terminals. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS. If not as specified, replace the speed sensor.
c. Check for no continuity between each terminal and sensor body. If there is continuity, replace the sensor.
d. Connect the sped sensor connector.
2. Check that the sensor installation bolt is tightened properly. If not , tighten the bolt.
3. Inspect sensor rotor serrations.
a. Drain the transmission fluid.
b. Remove the propeller shaft.
c. Remove the extension housing.
d. Automatic: Inspect the sensor rotor serration for scratches, cracks, missing teeth or abnormal play. Manual: Inspect the reverse gear serration for scratches, cracks, missing teeth, abnormal play.
e. Install extension housing.
f. Install the propeller shaft.
g Fill the transmission fluid and check fluid level.
