Rear Planetary Gear and Output Shaft

COMPONENTS





DISASSEMBLY OF REAR PLANETARY GEAR AND OUTPUT SHAFT




1. REMOVE SECOND BRAKE ASSEMBLY FROM OUTPUT SHAFT




2. REMOVE OUTPUT SHAFT FROM REAR PLANETARY GEAR ASSEMBLY




3. REMOVE OIL SEAL RING FROM OUTPUT SHAFT




4. REMOVE FIRST AND REVERSE BRAKE DISCS, PLATES AND FLANGE

7M-GE: One flange, six plates and six discs
7M-GTE: One flange, seven plates and seven discs




5. REMOVE REAR PLANETARY GEAR FROM REAR PLANETARY RING GEAR




6. CHECK OPERATION OF NO.2 ONE-WAY CLUTCH
Hold the planetary gear and turn the one-way clutch inner race. The one-way clutch inner race should turn freely counterclockwise and should lock clockwise.

7. REMOVE NO.2 ONE-WAY CLUTCH




a. Remove the one-way clutch inner race from the rear planetary gear.




b. Remove the snap ring with a screwdriver.




c. Remove the No.2 one-way clutch with retainers from the planetary gear.




8. REMOVE NO.2 AND NO.1 THRUST WASHERS




9. REMOVE RACES AND BEARING FROM REAR PLANETARY RING GEAR




10. REMOVE SNAP RING FROM REAR PLANETARY RING GEAR




11. REMOVE RING GEAR FLANGE

ASSEMBLY OF REAR PLANETARY GEAR AND OUTPUT SHAFT




1. INSTALL RING GEAR FLANGE
2. INSTALL SNAP RING




3. INSTALL RACES AND BEARING
Coat the races and bearing with petroleum jelly, and install them onto the rear planetary ring gear.




NOTE: Races and bearing diameter




4. INSTALL NO.1 AND NO.2 THRUST WASHERS
a. Coat the thrust washers with petroleum jelly.
b. Install the thrust washers onto both sides of the rear planetary gear.

NOTE: Make sure that the lugs match the shape of the cutout portions on the rear planetary gear.




5. INSTALL NO.2 ONE-WAY CLUTCH
Install the one-way clutch and two retainers into the rear planetary gear as shown in the figure.

NOTE: Make sure that the open ends of the 4 positioning guides on the one-way clutch are faced upward.




6. INSTALL SNAP RING




7. WHILE TURNING COUNTERCLOCKWISE, INSTALL ONE-WAY CLUTCH INNER RACE TO REAR PLANETARY GEAR




8. CHECK OPERATION OF NO.2 ONE-WAY CLUTCH
Hold the planetary gear and turn the one-way clutch inner race. The one-way clutch inner race should turn freely counterclockwise and should lock clockwise.




9. INSTALL REAR PLANETARY GEAR ONTO REAR PLANETARY RING GEAR




10. INSTALL FLANGE, DISCS AND PLATES
a. Install the flange, facing the rounded edge downward.
b. Install in order:

7M-GE: D-P-D-P-D-P-D-P-D-P-D-P
7M-GTE: D-P-D-P-D-P-D-P-D-P-D-P-D-P




11. INSTALL OIL SEAL RING
Coat the oil seal ring with ATF and install it to the output shaft.

CAUTION: Do not spread the ring ends too much.

NOTE: After installing the oil seal ring, check that it moves smoothly.




12. INSTALL OUTPUT SHAFT INTO REAR PLANETARY GEAR ASSEMBLY




13. INSTALL SECOND BRAKE ASSEMBLY TO OUTPUT SHAFT
