Upper Valve Body

Upper Valve Body:






DISASSEMBLY OF UPPER VALVE BODY



1. REMOVE VALVE BODY PLATE AND GASKETS




2. REMOVE STRAINER




3. REMOVE CHECK BALLS

7M-GE: Nine check balls
7M-GTE: Seven check balls




4. CONFIRM PEN, SEVEN RETAINERS AND VALVE STOPPER ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY




5. REMOVE VALVE STOPPER




6. REMOVE THROTTLE VALVE CAM

7. REMOVE THROTTLE VALVE




a. Remove the pin with a magnetic finger by pushing in the down-shift plug.




b. Remove the down-shift plug, spring and throttle valve.




c. Turn over assembly, and remove the spring and adjusting rings.

NOTE: Note the number of adjusting rings installed. (Sometimes adjusting rings will not be used.)

8. REMOVE 3-4 SHIFT VALVE




a. Remove the retainer with a magnetic finger by pushing in the plug.




b. Remove the plug, 3-4 shift valve and spring.

9. REMOVE SECOND COAST MODULATOR VALVE




a. Remove the retainer with a magnetic finger by pushing in the plug.




b. Remove the plug, second coast modulator valve and spring.

10. REMOVE LOCK-UP RELAY VALVE




a. Remove the retainer with the magnetic finger.




b. Remove the sleeve with the plunger, spring and lockup relay valve.




c. Remove the lock-up relay valve, spring and plunger from the sleeve.

11. REMOVE SECONDARY REGULATOR VALVE




a. Remove the retainer with a magnetic finger by pushing in the plug.




b. Remove the plug, secondary regulator valve and spring.

12. REMOVE CUT-BACK VALVE




a. Remove the retainer with a magnetic finger by pushing in the plug.




b. Remove the plug, cut-back valve and spring.

13. REMOVE 2-3 SHIFT VALVE




a. Remove the retainer with a magnetic finger by pushing in the plug.




b. Remove the plug, spring and 2-3 shift valve.

14. REMOVE LOW COAST MODULATOR VALVE




a. Remove the retainer with a magnetic finger by pushing in the plug.




b. Remove the plug, spring and low coast modulator valve.

INSPECTION OF UPPER VALVE BODY




1. INSPECT STRAINER
Inspect strainer for residual adhesive and damage, and clean and replace as necessary.







2. INSPECT VALVE SPRINGS
Check for damage, squareness, rust and distorted coils. Measure the spring free height and replace if less than that shown in the table.

ASSEMBLY OF UPPER VALVE BODY
1. INSTALL LOW COAST MODULATOR VALVE




a. Install the low coast modulator valve, spring and plug into the bore.




b. Install the retainer by pushing in the plug.

2. INSTALL 2-3 SHIFT VALVE




a. Install the 2-3 shift valve, spring and plug into the bore.




b. Install the retainer by pushing in the plug.

3. INSTALL CUT-BACK VALVE




a. Install the spring, cut-back valve and plug into the bore.




b. Install the retainer by pushing in the plug.

4. INSTALL SECONDARY REGULATOR VALVE




a. Install the spring, secondary regulator valve and plug into the bore.




b. Install the retainer by pushing in the plug.

5. INSTALL LOCK-UP RELAY VALVE




a. Install the plunger and spring into the sleeve.




b. Install the lock-up relay valve into the sleeve.




c. Install the sleeve with the plunger, spring and lock up relay valve into the bore.




d. Install the retainer.

6. INSTALL SECOND MODULATOR VALVE




a. Install the spring, second modulator valve and plug into the bore.




b. Install the retainer by pushing in the plug.

7. INSTALL 3-4 SHIFT VALVE




a. Install the spring, 3 - 4 shift valve and plug into the bore.




b. Install the retainer by pushing in the plug.

8. INSTALL THROTTLE VALVE




a. Insert the throttle valve into the bore.

NOTE: Check that the valve is fully inserted into the bore.




b. Install the valve stopper as shown.




c. Turn over valve body, and install the same number of adjusting rings as were removed during disassembly.




d. Install the spring onto the end of the valve shaft.

9. INSTALL DOWN-SHIFT PLUG




a. Install the spring and down-shift plug into the bore.




b. Install the retainer by pushing in the plug.

10. ASSEMBLE THROTTLE CAM




a. Insert the sleeve through one side of the cam.




b. Install the spring with the hook through the hole in the cam.




11. INSTALL CAM ASSEMBLY ON UPPER VALVE BODY
Check that position of the spring ends with the figure.

Torque: 100 kg.cm (7 ft.lb, 10 N.m)




12. MAKE SURE PIN, SEVEN RETAINERS AND VALVE STOPPER ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY







13. INSTALL CHECK BALLS

7M-GE: Nine check balls
7M-GTE: Seven check balls

Install the three types of check balls to the valve body.
