TITLE
3VZ-E ENGINE (VN): ECU MODIFICATION


A modified Electronic Control Computer (ECU) for 1988 and early production 1989 V-6 Trucks and 4 Runners, is now in production. This modified ECU will provide:

- Smoother acceleration during cold engine operation.
- Reduced engine ping under light to moderate engine loads.
- Improved startability after a hot dead soak of 3 to 5 hours.





This modification is applicable to all 1988 and early production 1989 model V6 trucks and 4 Runners.

PART NUMBER INFORMATION


SERVICING INFORMATION:

Before replacing an ECU, perform a thorough inspection to verify that all engine mechanical, fuel and electrical/electronic systems are operating within recommended specifications.


PARTS RETURNS INFORMATION:

The replaced ECU's are remanufactured by Nippondenso-Los Angeles (NDLA). In order to maintain availability of rebuilt units, the original ECU must be sent to NDLA as soon as it has been replaced.
