Fuel Supply Line: Description and Operation
Fuel Supply/Return Lines:
Fuel is pumped from the fuel tank, through the filter, to the fuel rail/Fuel Pressure Regulator, and back to the tank by a network of fuel hoses and metal lines. Because of the high fuel pressures present in the system, the use of metal lines is preferred as much as possible, however this is not always feasible. When there is potential of mechanical components vibrating or moving opposite of each other, hoses must be used to prevent stress cracking. Hoses do present the potential for fuel leaks after deterioration has occurred and should be replaced periodically. Refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES for the recommended intervals.
