Ignition Cable: Testing and Inspection
1. Remove the distributor cap.Ignition Wire Removal:
CAUTION: Carefully remove ignition wires by pulling on the rubber boots. Do not bend the wire or the conductor may be broken.
2. Check for rough or pitted cap terminals. Scrape or file off the carbon deposits if necessary.
3. Check distributor cap for wear, cracks, and other damage. If necessary, clean or replace distributor cap or wires.
Distributor Cap Testing:
4. Using an ohmmeter, check ignition wire resistance.
5. If resistance of any wire exceeds 25k ohms, replace the distributor cap and/or ignition wires as required.
