Dashboard / Instrument Panel: Service and Repair

1. Remove front pillar garnishes with assist grip.
2. Remove foot rest and front door scuff inside plates.
3. Remove air bag, steering wheel and steering column cover.
4. Remove console upper panel, Fig. 2.

5. Remove parking brake hole cover.
6. Remove console box.
7. Remove lower finish panel, below steering column.
8. Remove center, lefthand and righthand dash gauge finish panels.
9. Remove combination meter.
10. Remove heater to register duct No. 2.
11. Remove combination switch.
12. Remove audio receiver assembly and computer cover.
13. Remove glove compartment door finish plate.
14. Pull up and disconnect passenger air bag connector.
15. Remove glove compartment and finish panel mounting brackets.
16. Remove heater to register duct No. 4.
17. Remove front passenger air bag assembly.
18. Remove parking brake lever, steering column and side defroster nozzle No. 2.
19. Disconnect instrument panel electrical connectors, then remove instrument panel and instrument panel reinforcement.
20. Remove instrument panel brace No. 1 and side bracket No. 3.
21. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque steering column bolts to 19 ft. lbs.
b. Torque passenger air bag assembly to instrument panel reinforcement screws to 15 ft. lbs.
c. Torque passenger air bag assembly to instrument panel screws to 78 inch lbs.
d. Torque steering wheel set nut to 26 ft. lbs.
e. Torque steering wheel pad to 62 inch lbs.
