Installation

1. INSTALL ENGINE REAR MOUNTING
Install the engine rear mounting and torque the 4 bolts.

Torque: 25 N.m (250 kgf.cm, 18 ft.lbf)




2. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER RETAINER
Install the shift lever retainer and torque the 4 bolts.
Bolt A
Torque: 19 N.m (195 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf)
Bolt B
Torque: 25 N.m (250 kgf.cm, 18 ft.lbf)




3. INSTALL TRANSMISSION
a. Align the input shaft spline with the clutch disc and install the transmission to the engine.
b. Torque the 5 bolts.

Torque: 72 N.m (730 kgf.cm, 53 ft.lbf)




4. INSTALL STARTER
Install the starter and torque the 2 bolts.

Torque: 39 N.m (400 kgf.cm, 29 ft.lbf)




5. INSTALL REAR ENGINE MOUNTING MEMBER
Install the rear engine mounting member and torque the 4 bolts and 4 nuts.
Nut
Torque: 13 N.m (135 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf)
Bolt
Torque: 25 N.m (280 kgf.cm, 19 ft.lbf)




6. INSTALL CLUTCH COVER SET BOLTS
a. Align the matchmarks.




b. Install and torque the 6 bolts.

Torque: 19 N.m (195 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf)




c. Install the service hole cover and torque the 2 bolts.

Torque: 12 N.m (120 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf)




7. CONNECT VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR CONNECTOR




8. CONNECT BACK - UP LIGHT SWITCH CONNECTOR




9. CONNECT STARTER WIRE
a. Connect the starter wire connector.
b. Connect the starter wire with the nut.




10. INSTALL CLUTCH RELEASE CYLINDER AND GROUND CABLE
a. Install the clutch release cylinder and torque the 2 bolts.

Torque: 12 N.m (120 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf)




b. Install the clamp and earth cable with a bolt.

Torque: 72 N.m (730 kgf.cm. 53 ft.lbf)




11. INSTALL TRANSMISSION SHIFT LEVER
a. Install the transmission shift lever, inside of vehicle.
b. Torque the bolt and nut.

Torque: 19 N.m (195 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf)

12. INSTALL PROPELLER SHAFT Service and Repair




13. INSTALL CROSSMEMBER BRACE
Normal Roof:
Install the center floor crossmember brace and torque the 4 bolts.
Sport Roof:
Install the center floor crossmember brace and torque the 6 bolts.

Torque: 13 N.m (130 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf)




14. INSTALL HEAT INSULATOR
Install the heat insulator and torque the 4 nuts.

Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.-lbf)




15. INSTALL EXHAUST CENTER PIPE
a. Install 2 new gaskets.
b. Install the exhaust center pipe.
c. Connect the exhaust center pipe to the 2 rings
d. Install and torque 4 new nuts.

Torque: 19 N.m (195 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf)




16. INSTALL EXHAUST FRONT PIPE AND PIPE SUPPORT BRACKET
a. Install 2 new gaskets.
b. Install the exhaust front pipe.
c. Install and torque the 2 bolts and new nuts.

Torque: 58 N.m (590 kgf.cm, 43 ft.lbf)




d. Install the pipe support bracket and torque the 2 bolts.

Torque: 37 N.m (380 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf)

e. Install and torque the 2 exhaust front pipe set bolts and new nuts.

Torque: 43 N.m (440 kgf.cm, 32 ft.lbf)




f. Install a new gasket, oxygen sensor and heat insulator.
g. Install and torque the 2 nuts.

Torque: 18 N.m (180 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)

17. FILL TRANSMISSION WITH GEAR OIL
Oil type:
TOYOTA GEAR OIL V160 or equivalent
Capacity:
1.8 liters (1.9 US qts, 1.6 Imp.qts)




18. INSTALL UPPER CONSOLE PANEL, SHIFT LEVER BOOT AND SET BOLTS
a. Install and torque the 4 set bolts.

Torque: 7.8 N.m (80 kgf.cm, 69 in.-lbf)




b. Install the shift and select lever boot No.1 and No 2
c. Install and torque the 4 set bolts.




d. Fit the upper console panel to the console box with the 4 clips.
e. Install the shift lever knob.
19. INSTALL NEGATIVE(-) BATTERY CABLE
20. PERFORM ROAD TEST
Check for abnormal noise and smooth shifting.
