Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair

PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH REPLACEMENT
1. REMOVE NO.2 ENGINE UNDER COVER



2. DISCONNECT SHIFT CABLE FROM MANUAL SHIFT LEVER
3. DISCONNECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH CONNECTOR
4. REMOVE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH



- Remove the nut and manual shift lever.
- Pry off the lock plate and remove the manual valve shaft nut.
- Remove the 2 bolts and pull out the park/neutral position switch.

5. INSTALL PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH
- Install the park/neutral position switch to the manual valve shaft.



- Install a new lock plate and tighten the nut.

Torque: 12 Nm (9 ft.lb)




- Using a screwdriver, stake the nut with lock plate.



- Temporarily install the manual shift lever.



- Turn the lever counterclockwise until it stops, then turn it clockwise 2 notches.
- Remove the manual shift lever.



- Adjust the park/neutral position switch.
HINT: Align the groove and neutral basic line.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

Torque: 5.4 Nm (48 in.lb)




6. INSTALL MANUAL SHIFT LEVER
7. CONNECT SHIFT CABLE TO MANUAL SHIFT LEVER
8. INSTALL NO.2 ENGINE UNDER COVER
