Alternator: Service and Repair

1. Loosen alternator pivot bolt, adjusting lock bolt, and adjusting bolt, then remove drive belt, Fig. 2.

2. Disconnect alternator connector.
3. Disconnect alternator to battery cable.
4. Disconnect wire harness from clip.
5. Remove pivot bolt, plate washer, adjusting lock bolt and alternator.
6. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Tension drive belt as outlined under Drive Belts/Specifications section.
b. Torque pivot bolt to 41 ft. lb.
c. Torque adjustment lock bolt to 13 ft. lb.
