Introduction
Some Land Cruiser vehicles may experience a rattle noise caused by the catalytic converter heat shield cracking around the bolts that secure them to the catalytic converter. A spacer has been added to reduce the possibility of the catalytic converter heat shield cracking.
Applicable Vehicles
^ 1998 - 1999 model year Land Cruiser produced before the VIN specified.

Repair Procedure
1. Inspect the Catalytic Converter Heat Shields closest to the engine on both RH and LH cylinder banks for cracking around the 4 bolts.
2. If cracking is found, replace the Catalytic Converter Heat Shields, Bolts, Nuts, and install Spacers in specified quantities.

This repair is covered under the Toyota Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
