Passengers Airbag Assembly
REMOVAL
NOTE:
- If the wiring connector of the SRS is disconnected and the ignition switch is in ON or ACC position, DTCs will be recorded.
- Never use the airbag parts from another vehicle. When replacing parts, replace them with new parts.
1. DISCONNECT AIRBAG CONNECTOR
a. Remove the glove compartment door.
NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
b. Disconnect the front passenger airbag connector.
2. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL
3. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 2 bolts and front passenger airbag assembly.
b. Remove the 3 bolts and instrument panel stay, and pry up the 5 clips shown in the illustration.
CAUTION:
- Do not store the front passenger airbag assembly with the airbag deployment side facing downward.
- Never disassemble the front passenger airbag assembly.
INSTALLATION
NOTE: Never use airbag parts from another vehicle. When replacing parts, replace them with new parts.
1. INSTALL FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
a. Install the airbag door to the instrument panel and instrument panel stay with the 3 bolts.
b. Install the front passenger airbag assembly to the airbag door.
CAUTION:
- Insert the 7 claws of the passenger airbag assembly into the holes in the airbag door securely.
- Make sure that no foreign objects are trapped between the airbag door and bag, and within the module.
c. Install the front passenger airbag assembly to the instrument panel with 2 bolts.
Torque: 5.4 Nm (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf)
NOTE: If the front passenger airbag assembly has been dropped, or there are cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace the front passenger airbag assembly with a new one.
2. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL
Install the 2 bolts to instrument panel reinforcement.
Torque: 19 Nm (195 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf)
NOTE:
- Make sure the front passenger airbag assembly is installed with the specified torque.
- When installing the instrument panel, take care that the airbag wire harness does not interfere with other parts and is not pinched between other parts.
3. CONNECT AIRBAG CONNECTOR
a. Connect the airbag connector.
b. Install the glove compartment door.
