Disassembly and Reassembly

DISASSEMBLY

1. REMOVE NO.5 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
Remove the screw and No.5 heater to register duct.
2. REMOVE NO.1 REGISTER
Remove the 2 screws and No.1 register.
3. REMOVE NO.2 REGISTER
Remove the 2 screws and No.2 register.
4. REMOVE LOWER PANEL LH AND RH
5. REMOVE CENTER BRACKET
Remove the screw and center bracket.
6. Except 4WD A/T:
REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE BOX MOUNTING B RACKET
Remove the 2 screws and upper console box mounting bracket.
7. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX MOUNTING BRACKET
Remove the 2 bolts and rear console box mounting bracket.
8. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG ASSEMBLY





a. Remove the 2 bolts and front passenger air bag assembly.

Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf)

b. Remove the 2 screws.




c. Remove the 3 bolts and instrument panel stay, and pry up the 5 clips shown in the illustration, then remove the air- bag door.

CAUTION:
- Do not store the front passenger air bag assembly with the air bag deployment direction facing down.
- Never disassemble the front passenger air bag assembly.




At the time of reassembly, please refer to the following items.
- Insert the 7 claws of the passenger air bag assembly into the holes in the air bag door securely.
- Make sure that no foreign objects are trapped between the air bag door and bag, and within the module.

NOTE:
At the time of reassembly, please refer to the following items.
- Make sure that the front passenger air bag assembly is installed to the specified torque.
- If the front passenger air bag assembly has been dropped, or there are cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace the front passenger air bag assembly with a new one.
- When installing the front passenger air bag assembly, take care that the wiring does not interfere with other parts and is not pinched between other parts.

REASSEMBLY
Reassembly is in the reverse order of disassembly.
