PORT INSTALLED RS3000 TVIP TRUNK & DOOR COURTESY CONNECTIONS

INTRODUCTION
For 1999 Avalon vehicles equipped with a Port Installed Option RS3OOO (V3), the locations of the following wire harness connections were changed to improve the installation process.
1. The door courtesy connection has been relocated from the driver side rear fender area to below the dash (driver side lower finish panel) in the Driver Side J/B. (Refer to illustrations A & B.)
^ A splicing connector is used for the new door courtesy (red/white) wire installation to the vehicle's wire harness at the Driver Side J/B (white 6P connector).
^ The previous location is the same as the dealer installed RS3OOO door courtesy connection to the door courtesy switch connectors on the driver side rear fender body panel. (Refer to page 3, Illustration D.)
2. The trunk courtesy connection has been relocated from the luggage compartment light switch to below the dash (driver side lower finish panel) in the Driver Side J/B. (Refer to page 2, illustration A & C.)
^ A splicing connector is used for the new trunk courtesy (green) wire installation to the vehicle's wire harness at the Connector J/B (blue 20P connector).
^ The previous location is the same as the dealer installed RS3OOO trunk courtesy connection to the luggage compartment light switch connectors. (Refer to Illustration E.)
For service related purposes, this bulletin describes the procedures to locate the new door and trunk courtesy connections at Driver Side JIB in vehicles equipped with PIO RS3OOO.
The remote transmitter has two buttons, Top and Bottom.
The status monitor has a Toyota label, LED, and microphone.

1999 model year Avalon vehicles equipped with PIO (V3) TVIP.

LOCATING PROCEDURE
New Location:
The steps below should be followed in order to locate the new trunk and door courtesy connections when servicing Avalons equipped with the PIO RS3OOO TVIP.
1. Remove the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the driver's step cover.
3. Remove the driver's cowl cover (1 nut).

4. Locate the Connector Junction Block in the driver's cowl area. You will notice a RED/WHITE wire routed to the White 6P connector which terminates at an adjacent splicing connector. This is the TVIP Door Courtesy Wire. You will also notice a GREEN wire routed to the Blue 20P connector located right above the Connector Junction Block. This is the TVIP Trunk Courtesy Wire.

5. Disconnect the White 6P connector from the Connector Junction Block. With the tab of the White 6P connector facing up, look at the back (wire side) and locate the wire in the bottom row, third space from the right, which has the splicing connector attached to it. This is the Vehicle's door Courtesy Signal Wire. The RED/WHITE wire, that's also attached to the splicing connector, is the TVIP Door Courtesy Wire.

6. Disconnect the Blue 20P connector from above the Connector Junction Block. With the tab of the Blue 20P connector facing up, look at the back (wire side) and locate the wire in the bottom row, fifth space from the left, which has the splicing connector attached to it. This is the Vehicle's Trunk Courtesy Signal Wire. The GREEN wire, that's also attached to the splicing connector, is the TVIP Trunk Courtesy Wire.
7. After completing the parts inspection and repairs if applicable, reconnect the White 6P and the blue 20P connectors and install all previously removed parts.
