Side Airbag Assembly

Removal

NOTE:
- If the wiring connector of the SRS is disconnected and the ignition switch is at ON or ACC position, DTCs will be recorded.
- Never use the airbag parts from another vehicle. When replacing parts, replace them with new parts.









1. REMOVE FRONT SEAT
a. Remove the 2 seat track covers and 4 bolts.
b. Disconnect the side airbag connector and power seat connector.

NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

c. Remove the front seat.






2. Driver's seat with bench type only:
REMOVE CENTER ARMREST
Remove the cap, bolt and center armrest.

3. REMOVE HEADREST






4. REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK BOARD
Remove the front seatback board, "A", "B" and "C" in order as shown in the illustration.






5. REMOVE SEATBACK ASSEMBLY
a. Disengage the 2 hooks as shown in the illustration.






b. Disconnect the side airbag connector.

NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness






c. Remove all the hog rings connecting seatback cover and seatback frame.






d. Disengage the hooks from the seatback frame.
e. Remove the 4 bolts and seatback assembly.






6. REMOVE SEATBACK FRAME ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the hog rings.
b. Remove the 2 headrest supports.
c. Driver's seat:
Remove the lumber support lever.

d. Remove the seatback frame assembly from the seatback cover with pad.



Installation

NOTE: Never use airbag parts from another vehicle. When replacing parts, replace them with new parts.






1. INSTALL SEATBACK FRAME ASSEMBLY
a. Install the seatback frame assembly with new hog rings to seatback cover with pad.

NOTE: If the side airbag assembly has been dropped, or there are cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace the side airbag assembly with a new one.

b. Driver's seat:
Install the lumber support lever.

c. Install the headrest supports.






2. INSTALL SEATBACK ASSEMBLY
a. Install seatback assembly with 4 bolts.

Torque: 18 Nm (185 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)

b. Hang the hook onto the seatback frame.

CAUTION: Take care to hung the hook securely. Otherwise the seat cover slides, it might cause incorrect deploying.






c. Install all the new hog rings connecting seatback cover to seatback frame.






d. Connect the side airbag connector.






e. Install the 2 hooks as shown in the illustration.

3. INSTALL FRONT SEATBACK BOARD
Install front seatback board to the front seat.

4. INSTALL FRONT SEAT
a. Mount the seat to the vehicle.
b. Connect the power seat connector and side airbag connector.
c. Install the outer bolt and inner bolt on the front side after sliding the seat to the rearmost position.

Torque: 37 Nm (375 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf)

d. Tighten the bolts on the rear side temporarily, from the bolt on the inner side tighten them completely.

Torque: 37 Nm (375 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf)
