This Technical Service Bulletin provides you with the instructions for the installation of a child seat tether anchor on 1997 CAMRY





Center Tether Anchor Installation:





Outer Tether Anchor Installation: (R.H. Side or L.H. Side)

1. Remove rear seat cushion and seat back.
2. Remove roof side inner garnishes.

- Remove clips
- Pull garnishes to remove them.

3. Remove high mount stop light.

- Remove cover
- Remove stop light, disconnect connector

4. Remove package tray trim.

- Remove bolts holding seat belts lower sides to body.
Torque (for reinstallation): 42 N.m (420 Kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
- Remove seat belts with belt hole covers from package trim.
- Remove package tray trim by pulling forward.





5. Invert package tray trim and cut holes along the perforations provided, as shown in illustration at right. .

6. Reinstall all components, items # 1. through 4. in the reverse order of disassembly.
7. Install tether anchor with 15 mm (0.6 in) thickness spacer and bolt.

Torque: 16.5 ~ 24.7 N-m (168 ~ 258 kgf-cm, 12 ~ 18 ft-lbf)
