CONTINUOUS ALARM NOISE FROM COMBINATION METER

'98 - '02 Land Cruiser

Introduction

Some 1998 - 2002 model year Land Cruiser vehicles may experience a continuous chime/alarm noise emitting from the combination meter after the vehicle has been started or the key has been turned to the "run" position after the bulb check has been completed.

The Cowl Side Junction Block was upgraded from January 2001. For further improvement, the Wire Harness (Instrument Panel Integration) has been upgraded to correct the above condition.

Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty *:

This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.





1. Confirm whether the updated Junction Block is installed or not by referring to the production lot number on the label. Refer to the identification location as shown.

Non-Updated Production Lots:

# # # # 9 #: 1999 Production

# # # # 0 #: 2000 Production

Updated Lots:

# # # # 1 #

2. If the vehicle is not equipped with an updated Junction Block, replace the Junction Block with a new one.

3. Confirm whether the condition has been corrected or not and continue to Repair Procedure "B."

Repair Procedure B





1. Remove terminal # 13 from the Wire Harness connector "A" at the Combination Meter.





2. Remove terminal # 11 from the Wire Harness connector "2P" at the Junction Block LH.

After disconnecting the wires by removing the terminal from the connector, individually tape each connector and then secure the wire to the harness with tape.
