RECOMMENDED CARPET CLEANING PROCEDURES
"CAUTION"
Power washing of carpets and mats, in place, in the vehicle and using a wet / dry vac to remove excess water is NOT recommended.
Interior connectors are not protected against this volume of moisture and may result in electrical system failure due to corrosion of internal electrical connections.
Toyota Canada Inc. recommends the following methods:
1. Use an approved wet / dry vacuum with a minimum of 100 cfm, 2.5 hp, with an 8 to 13 gallon holding tank.
CARPETS REMOVED OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE:
2. Shampoo carpet using a hot water extractor being sure not to soak the carpet. If properly used the carpet should air dry in approximately one hour.
CARPETS LEFT IN PLACE INSIDE THE VEHICLE:
3. When shampooing carpets inside, a dry foam should be used and if chemical cleaner is necessary, then the chemical should be sprayed on the brush and lightly on the stain and then brushed in and vacuumed dry.
These methods also apply to cleaning of Trunk area:
CAUTION: On some vehicle models, the audio power amplifier is situated below the front passenger's seat. Therefore, please exercise caution when detailing / carpet cleaning in this area due to the possibility of moisture contamination / damage to this component.
HINT: The photograph illustrates a typical industrial steam cleaner (hot water extractor), the use of which is strongly recommended for auto detailing / carpet cleaning.
