Introduction
Due to changes to the Front Passenger Airbag Assembly on '99MY Siennas, the following corrections to the Front Passenger Airbag Removal Procedures should be used instead of pages RS-25 and RS-26 in the 1999 Sienna Repair Manual Vol. 2 (RM657U).

Removal Procedures
NOTE:
If the Wiring Connector of the SRS is disconnected and the ignition switch is at ON or ACC position, DTCs will be recorded.
NOTE:
^ Never uses the airbag parts from another vehicle.
^ When replacing airbag system parts, always replace them with new parts.
1. Disconnect Front Passenger Airbag Assembly Connector.
a. Open the glove compartment door.
b. Using a screwdriver, remove the glove compartment door finish plate.
c. Pull the connector from the glove compartment door finish plate.
d. Disconnect the Front Passenger Airbag Assembly Connector.
2. Remove the Instrument Panel. (See Pg. BO-107 in Repair Manual)
3. Remove the No. 2 Heater to Register Duct.
Remove the 4 screws and No. 2 heater to register duct from the instrument panel.
4. Remove the Front Passenger Airbag Assembly.
a. Remove the 2 bolts.
b. Pry off the 5 Clips and remove the Front Passenger Airbag Assembly, as shown in the illustration.
NOTE:
Clips are to be reused during installation.
CAUTION:
^ Do not store the Front Passenger Airbag Assembly with the airbag deployment side facing downward.
^ Never disassemble the Front Passenger Airbag Assembly.
c. Remove the No. 1 and No. 2 Safety
Pad Retainers with the 2 Bolts.
Reassembly Procedures
Front Passenger Airbag Installation is performed in the reverse order of the above Removal Procedures.
