Antitheft - New Hood Latch Reduces False Activations

INTRODUCTION
The Sienna factory security system may intermittently be falsely activated. A modification has been made to the hood latch switch, which detects hood opening, to prevent improper alarm activation.

PARTS INFORMATION

NOTE:
The modified part can be identified by the Date Code marked on the hook of the latch. "26599" (265th day of 1999) and later dated parts have been updated.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
Replace the hood latch on applicable vehicles with VINs prior to the production change to correct the concern.

NOTE:
The hood latch contains a short harness and switch which detects the hood opening.

APPLICABLE WARRANTY*:
This repair is covered under the Toyota Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.
