Some 2000 model year Sienna vehicles may experience a M.I.L. Light "ON" condition with DTC P0116 (Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Range / Performance Problem) after being cold started in temperatures between 35°F/1.7°C and 50°F/10°C, and the car is at idle for at least 2 minutes after starting. The Engine Control Module (ECM) (SAE term: Powertrain Control Module/PCM) logic has been revised to correct this condition.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Follow repair manual diagnostics for MIL "ON" DTC P0116. Refer to ETAS, 2000 model year Sienna Repair Manual: Diagnostics; SFI; P0116.
2. If thermostat and coolant temperature sensor are OK: confirm conditions when the customer experienced the M.I.L. "ON" condition.
A. Vehicle was cold started and allowed to idle for at least 2 minutes before M.I.L. "ON." Cold start temperatures were between 35°F/1.7°C and 50°F/10°C.
B. If both conditions "A" and "B" were met prior to M.I.L. "ON," then replace ECM (PCM).
