REMOVAL
1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
2. REMOVE BRAKE DRUM
3. CHECK BEARING BACKLASH AND AXLE HUB DEVIATION
a. Using a dial indicator, check the backlash near the center of the axle hub.
Maximum: 0.05 mm (0.0020 inch)
If the backlash exceeds the maximum, replace the axle hub.
b. Using a dial indicator, check the deviation at the surface of the axle hub outside the hub bolt.
Maximum: 0.07 mm (0.0028 inch)
If the deviation exceeds the maximum, replace the axle hub.
4. w/ ABS: DISCONNECT ABS SPEED SENSOR
Remove the bolt and disconnect the ABS speed sensor.
5. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB
a. Using SST, disconnect the brake line. Use a container to catch the brake fluid.

b. Remove the 4 bolts, axle hub and O-ring.
c. Support the parking brake assembly securely.
6. REMOVE REAR AXLE CARRIER
a. Remove the bolt and nut, and disconnect the strut rod from the axle carrier.
NOTICE: Loosen the bolt since the nut cannot be rotated.
b. Remove the nut, bolt and 2 washers, and disconnect the No. 1 and No. 2 lower suspension arm.
c. Remove the 2 nuts, bolts and axle carrier.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL REAR AXLE CARRIER
a. Install the axle carrier, 2 bolts and nuts to the shock absorber.
Torque: 142 Nm (1,450 kgf-cm, 105 ft. lbs.)
b. Install the bolt, nut and 2 washers and connect the No. 1 and No. 2 lower suspension arm.
Torque: 125 Nm (1,226 kgf-cm, 89 ft. lbs.)
c. Install the bolt and nut, and connect the strut rod to the axle carrier.
Torque: 91 Nm (930 kgf-cm, 67 ft. lbs.)
NOTICE: Tighten the bolt since the nut cannot be rotated.
HINT: After stabilizing the suspension, torque the bolt.
2. INSTALL REAR AXLE HUB
a. Coat a new O-ring with MP grease.
b. Install the parking brake assembly, O-ring, axle hub and 4 bolts.
Torque: 80 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 ft. lbs.)
c. Using SST, connect the brake line.

Torque: 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.)
3. w/ABS: INSTALL ABS SPEED SENSOR
Torque: 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.)
4. CHECK BEARING BACKLASH AND AXLE HUB DEVIATION.
5. INSTALL BRAKE DRUM
6. INSTALL REAR WHEEL
Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.)
7. BLEED BRAKE SYSTEM.
8. CHECK REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT.
9. CHECK ABS SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL.
