Introduction
To reduce a creaking/popping noise from the moon roof area, felt pieces have been added to the Sliding Roof Glass Sub-Assembly.

Applicable Warranty*:
This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.
Repair Procedure
Refer to the 2001 Highlander Repair Manual, Volume 2, page 74-2 to remove sliding roof garnishes.
NOTE:
3M Anti-Squeak and Rattle Tape may be used instead of felt.
1. Tape felt washer to locations # 1, 2 3, 4 & 5 of the Sliding Roof Glass Sub-Assembly.
Repeat for opposite side
Felt size:
Length: 15 mm
Width: 25 mm
Thickness: 0.5 mm
Hole diameter: 8 mm
Slit length: 15 mm
2. Tape 2 pieces of felt to location # 6 of the Sliding Roof Glass Sub-Assembly.
Repeat for opposite side.
Felt Size:
Length: 5 mm
Width: 25 mm
Thickness: 0.5 mm
3. Tape 1 piece of felt washer to locations # 7 and # 8 of the Sliding Roof Glass Sub-Assembly.
Felt size:
Length: 10 mm
Width: 20 mm
Thickness: 0.5 mm
Slit length: 15 mm
4. Tape 1 piece of felt washer to location # 9 of the Sliding Roof Glass Sub-Assembly.
Repeat for opposite side.
Felt size:
Length: 10 mm
Width: 20 mm
Thickness: 0.5 mm
Slit length: 15 mm
