Dashboard / Instrument Panel: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before to pry parts.

1. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL
2. REMOVE COMBINATION SWITCH
a. Remove the 3 screws and steering column covers.
b. Disconnect the 4 connectors and remove 3 screws and combination switch.

3. REMOVE LOWER LH FINISH PANEL




a. Remove the 2 screws and hood lock release lever.
b. Remove the 4 bolts, screw and lower LH finish panel.

4. REMOVE LOWER CENTER COVER
Remove the 2 clips and lower center cover.

5. REMOVE CENTER CLUSTER FINISH PANEL
a. Remove the 3 heater control knobs.
b. Using a screwdriver, pry and remove the heater control panel.




c. Remove the 3 screws.
d. Using a screwdriver, remove the center cluster finish panel.
e. Disconnect the connector and ash receptacle box light.
f. Remove the cigar lighter hole bezel from the center cluster finish panel.
g. Remove the front ash receptacle box and retainer from the center cluster finish panel.

6. REMOVE RADIO AND STEREO
Remove the 4 bolt and radio and stereo, disconnect the connectors.




7. REMOVE HEATER CONTROL UNIT
Remove the 3 screws and heater control unit and disconnect the 2 connectors.




8. REMOVE STARTER SWITCH BEZEL
Using a screwdriver, remove the starter switch bezel and disconnect the connector.

9. REMOVE LOWER CENTER FINISH PANEL
Remove the screw and panel.

10. REMOVE CLUSTER FINISH PANEL




a. Remove the screw and No. 2 heater to register duct.
b. Remove the 3 screws.
c. Using a screwdriver, remove the cluster finish panel and disconnect the connectors.

11. REMOVE COMBINATION METER
Remove the 4 screws and meter and disconnect the connectors.

12. REMOVE NO. 1 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
Remove the screw and No. 1 heater to register duct.




13. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR
Remove the 2 screws and glove compartment door.

14. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR REINFORCEMENT
Remove the bolt 2 screws and glove compartment door reinforcement.

15. REMOVE NO. 4 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
16. DISCONNECT FRONT AIRBAG CONNECTOR
17. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 FINISH PANEL
Remove the 3 bolts and lower No. 2 finish panel and disconnect the wire harnesses.

18. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN




19. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL
Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and instrument panel with the passenger air bag.

Torque: 20 N.m (205 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)

20. REMOVE NO. 1 BRACE
a. Remove the 2 screw and disconnect the connector.
b. Remove the 3 bolts and No. 1 brace and disconnect the wire harness.

21. REMOVE NO. 2 BRACE
Disconnect the wire harness and remove the 2 bolts and No. 2 brace.

22. REMOVE CENTER HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
Remove the screw and center heater to register duct.

23. REMOVE NO. 1 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
Remove the screw and No. 1 heater to register duct.

24. REMOVE DEFROSTER NOZZLE
25. DISCONNECT PARKING BRAKE LEVER
Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the parking brake lever.

26. REMOVE REINFORCEMENT
a. Disconnect the wire harnesses.
b. Remove the 3 bolts, 4 nuts, 2 screws and reinforcement.

27. REMOVE CENTER BRACKET
Remove the screw and center bracket.

28. REMOVE NO. 5 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
Remove the screw and No. 5 heater to register duct.

29. REMOVE NO. 2 REGISTER
Remove the 3 screws and No. 2 register.

30. REMOVE NO. 1 REGISTER
Remove the 2 screws and No. 1 register.

31. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY




a. Remove the 2 bolts and front passenger airbag assembly.

Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 42 in.lbf)

b. Remove the 3 bolts and front passenger airbag door.
c. Remove the 2 screws and instrument panel stay.

CAUTION:
- Do not store the front passenger airbag assembly with the airbag side deployment direction facing down.
- Never disassemble the front passenger airbag assembly.

INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal procedure.
