Fender Flare Pad - Loose

Introduction

Some customers may experience a condition where the rubber pad between the fender flare and the body may appear loose. A field fix has been developed to resolve this condition.

Applicable Vehicles
^ 2001 - 2002 model year Tacoma PreRunner and 4x4 vehicles produced before the Vehicles VIN shown below.

Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty*:
This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure

Only replace fender flare pads that are loose or missing.





1. Remove the fender flare from the vehicle following the procedure in the 2002 Tacoma Repair Manual (pages BO-30 and BO-31).





2. Remove the pad.

3. Completely remove all the old adhesive with Acrysol or equivalent.





4. Using the promoter pen, apply the promoter to the fender flare over the entire surface that the new pad will be applied to.

NOTE:
The new pad must be applied within 30 minutes after the application of the promoter.

5. Remove the protective red tape from the new pad and apply the pad to the fender flare.

6. Replace any of the attaching clips that may have been damaged during removal of the fender flare.





7. Reattach the fender flare to the vehicle.
