Wiper and Washer Systems: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. REMOVE WIPER ARMS
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the caps.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

b. Remove the 2 nuts and wiper arms.

2. REMOVE COWL LOUVER
Remove the 6 screws, 4 clips and cowl louver.

3. REMOVE WIPER LINK
a. Remove the 6 bolts.
b. Disconnect the wiper link from the wiper motor.
c. Remove the wiper link through the service hole.




4. REMOVE WIPER MOTOR
Disconnect the connector, then unfasten the 4 bolts and remove the motor.

5. REMOVE WINDOW WASHER NOZZLES
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the window washer nozzles from the hood.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

b. Disconnect the washer hoses.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL WINDOW WASHER NOZZLES
a. Connect the washer hose.
b. Install the washer nozzles to the hood.




2. INSTALL WIPER MOTOR
Install the wiper motor and fasten the 4 bolts, then connect the connector.

Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf)

3. INSTALL WIPER LINK
a. Connect the wiper link to the wiper motor.
b. Install the 6 bolts.

Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf)

4. INSTALL COWL LOUVER
Install the cowl louver with the 6 screws and 4 clips.

5. INSTALL WIPER ARMS
a. Operate the wipers once and turn the wiper switch OFF.
b. Install the wiper arms and tighten nuts by hand.




c. Adjust the installation position of the wiper arms to the positions as shown in the illustration.

A: 25.0 mm (0.984 in.)

d. Torque the nuts.

Torque: 20 N.m (205 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)
