Removal and Installation
REMOVAL1. RUN ENGINE AT IDLE SPEED WITH A/C ON FOR APPROX. 10 MINUTES
2. STOP ENGINE
3. DISCONNECT NEGATIVE (-) TERMINAL CABLE FROM BATTERY
4. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM
5. REMOVE DRIVE BELT
6. 2AZ-FE:
DISCONNECT GENERATOR WIRE
a. Remove the terminal cover and nut, and disconnect the generator wire.
b. Disconnect the generator connector.
c. Remove the nut and disconnect the wire clip with the engine wires.
7. 2AZ-FE:
DISCONNECT DISCHARGE AND SUCTION HOSES
a. Disconnect the connector.
b. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect both hoses.
NOTE: Cap the open fittings immediately to keep moisture or dirt out of the system.
8. 2AZ-FE:
REMOVE COMPRESSOR
Remove the 4 bolts, wire clamp and compressor.
9. 1MZ-FE:
REMOVE SUCTION HOSE AND DISCHARGE HOSE
a. Remove the suction hose clamping bolt.
b. Disconnect the wire harness clamp.
c. Loosen the nut and bolts and remove the suction hose.
d. Remove the bolt and disconnect the hose.
NOTE: Cap the open fittings immediately to keep moisture or dirt out of the system.
10. 1MZ-FE:
REMOVE GENERATOR
a. Disconnect the generator connector.
b. Remove the nut, and disconnect the generator wire.
c. Disconnect the wire harness from the clip.
d. Remove the pivot bolt, plate washer, adjusting lock bolt and generator.
11. 1MZ-FE:
REMOVE COMPRESSOR
a. Disconnect the connector.
b. Remove the 2 bolts, nut and drive belt adjusting bar bracket.
c. Remove the 3 bolts and compressor.
INSTALLATION
1. 2AZ-FE:
INSTALL COMPRESSOR
Install the compressor with the 4 bolts and wire clamp.
Torque: 25 N.m (250 kgf.cm, 18 ft.lbf)
2. 2AZ-FE:
CONNECT DISCHARGE AND SUCTION HOSE
a. Lubricate 2 new O-rings with compressor oil and install them to the both hoses.
b. Connect the both hoses with the 2 bolts.
c. Connect the connector.
Torque: 10 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)
NOTE: Hoses should be connected immediately after the caps have been removed.
3. 2AZ-FE:
CONNECT GENERATOR WIRE
a. Connect the generator connector.
b. Connect the generator wire with the nut, and install the cap.
Torque: 9.7 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 85 in.lbf)
c. Install the wire clip on the wire connectors to the generator.
4. 1MZ-FE:
INSTALL COMPRESSOR
a. Install the compressor with 3 bolts.
Torque: 25 N.m (250 kgf.cm, 18 ft.lbf)
b. Install the drive belt adjusting bar bracket with 2 bolts and nut.
Torque:
Bolt (A): 18 N.m (185 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)
Bolt (8): 25 N.m (250 kgf.cm, 18 ft.lbf)
Nut: 25 N.m (250 kgf.cm, 18 ft.lbf)
c. Connect the connector.
5. 1MZ-FE:
INSTALL GENERATOR
a. Mount generator on the generator bracket with the pivot bolt and adjusting lock bolt. Do not tighten the bolts yet.
b. Connect the generator connector.
c. Connect the generator wire with the nut.
6. 1MZ-FE:
CONNECT DISCHARGE HOSE AND SUCTION HOSE
a. Lubricate a new O-ring with compressor oil and install them to the discharge hose.
Compressor oil: ND-OIL 8 or equivalent
b. Connect the discharge hose with the bolt.
Torque: 10 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)
c. Lubricate 2 new O-rings with compressor oil and install them to the suction hose.
Compressor oil: ND-OIL 8 or equivalent
d. Install the suction hose and tighten the bolt and nut.
Torque:
Bolt: 10 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)
Nut: 32 N.m (330 kgf.cm, 24 ft.lbf)
e. Install the suction hose clamping bolt.
f. Connect the wire harness clamp.
NOTE: Hoses should be connected immediately after the caps have been removed.
7. 1MZ-FE:
INSTALL SUCTION HOSE
8. INSTALL AND CHECK DRIVE BELT
9. CONNECT NEGATIVE (-) TERMINAL CABLE TO BATTERY
10. EVACUATE AIR FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM AND CHARGE SYSTEM WITH REFRIGERANT
Specified amount: 800 ± 50 g (28.22 ± 1.76 oz.)
11. INSPECT FOR LEAKAGE OF REFRIGERANT
Using a gas leak detector, check for leakage of refrigerant.
If there is leakage, check the tightening torque at the joints.
12. INSPECT A/C OPERATION
