Introduction

Under certain driving conditions, some 2003 model year Camry vehicles with V6 engines may exhibit a M.I.L. ON" with at least one of the following DTCs as a result of an Air Fuel (A/F) Sensor manufacturing issue.

^ P0031 (Oxygen Sensor Heater Control Circuit Low [Bank 1, Sensor 1])

^ P0051 (Oxygen Sensor Heater Control Circuit Low [Bank 2, Sensor 1])

^ P2238 (Oxygen Sensor Pumping Current Circuit Low (for A/F Sensor) [Bank 1, Sensor 1])

^ P2241 (Oxygen Sensor Pumping Current Circuit Low (for A/F Sensor) [Bank 2, Sensor 1])

Replacement of the affected Air Fuel Sensor will correct this condition.

Applicable Vehicles
^ 2003 model year Camry vehicles equipped with V6 engines produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown below.

Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty*:

This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure

P0031 or P0051

1. Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), 2003 Camry Repair Manual, Diagnostics, SFI System (1MZ-FE) P0031, P0032, P0051, P0052.

2. If there is an open circuit or excessive resistance in the A/F Sensor heater, and DTC P0031 or P0051 is stored, replace the A/F sensor.

3. Only replace the A/F Sensor indicated by the M.I.L. ON" DTC(s).

P2238 or P2241

1. Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), 2003 Camry Repair Manual, Diagnostics, SFI System (1MZ-FE) P2237, P2238, P2239, P2240, P2241, P2242.

2. If there is an open circuit in the A/F Sensor heater and DTC P2238 or P2241 is stored, replace the A/F sensor.

3. Only replace the A/F Sensor indicated by the M.I.L. ON" DTC(s).
