REPLACEMENT
1. WORK FOR PREVENTING GASOLINE FROM SPILLING OUT
2. REMOVE FRONT WHEELS
3. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER NO.1
4. REMOVE FRONT FENDER SPLASH SHIELD FRONT RH
5. REMOVE FRONT FENDER SPLASH SHIELD FRONT LH
6. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL RH
7. DRAIN COOLANT
a. Using a 10 mm hexagon wrench, remove the drain plug and a gasket. Drain automatic transaxle fluid.
b. Install a new gasket and the drain plug.
Torque: 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft. lbs.)
8. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID
9. DRAIN TRANSFER OIL (4WD DRIVE TYPE)
a. Install a new gasket and the drain plug after draining transfer oil.
Torque: 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft. lbs.)
10. REMOVE BATTERY
11. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSY
12. SEPARATE RADIATOR HOSE INLET
13. SEPARATE RADIATOR HOSE OUTLET
14. SEPARATE OIL COOLER INLET HOSE
15. SEPARATE OIL COOLER OUTLET HOSE
16. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING STAY NO.2 RH
17. REMOVE ENGINE MOVING CONTROL ROD W/BRACKET
a. Remove the 3 bolts and the engine moving control rod w/ bracket.
18. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET NO.2 RH
19. REMOVE FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT

20. SEPARATE VANE PUMP OIL RESERVOIR ASSY
21. SEPARATE RETURN TUBE SUB-ASSY
a. Remove the 2 bolts and separate the return tube.
22. SEPARATE UNION TO CHECK VALVE HOSE
23. SEPARATE ACCELERATOR CONTROL CABLE ASSY
24. SEPARATE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSY
25. SEPARATE HEATER INLET WATER HOSE
26. SEPARATE HEATER OUTLET WATER HOSE
27. SEPARATE FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSY
28. SEPARATE ENGINE ROOM MAIN WIRE
a. Separate the engine wire from ECM and junction block.
b. Separate the engine wire from engine room junction block.
1 Install the wire harness and remove a nut.
2 Using a screwdriver, unlock the engine room junction block. Separate the engine wire by pulling it upward.
3 Separate the connector.
c. Pull out the engine wire.
d. Separate B terminal of the generator.
e. Remove the body ground.
29. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE ASSY FRONT
30. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT (4WD DRIVE TYPE)
a. Place the matchmarks on both of the flanges.
b. Remove the 4 nuts, bolts and washers.
c. Insert SST after removing propeller shaft assembly.

31. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSY LH
a. Using a 6 mm socket hexagon wrench, fix the stud bolt.
b. Remove the nut and the stabilizer bar link.
32. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSY RH
HINT: Perform the same procedure as above on the opposite side.
33. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB LH NUT
a. Using SST and a hammer, unstake the staked part of the lock nut.

NOTICE:
- When removing the nut, unstake the staked part of it completely.
- Do not damage the threads of the drive shaft.
- Be sure not to sharpen the tip of the SST.
- Set the SST to the groove with the flat face upward.
b. Using a 30 mm socket wrench, remove the lock nut.
34. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB RH NUT

HINT: Perform the same procedure as above on the opposite side.
35. SEPARATE SPEED SENSOR FRONT LH
NOTICE: Keep the tip and connection part of speed sensor off foreign materials.
36. SEPARATE SPEED SENSOR FRONT RH
37. SEPARATE TIE ROD ASSY LH
a. Remove the cotter pin and a castle nut.
b. Using SST, separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle.

NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the cover of the ball joint.
38. SEPARATE TIE ROD ASSY RH

HINT: Perform the same procedure as above on the opposite side.
39. SEPARATE FRONT SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSY LOWER NO.1 LH
a. Remove the bolt and 2 nuts shown in the illustration.
b. Using a plastic hammer, separate the drive shaft from the axle hub.
40. SEPARATE FRONT SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSY LOWER NO.1 RH
HINT: Perform the same procedure as above on the opposite side.
41. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE & TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SETTING BOLT
a. Fix the crankshaft and remove the 6 set bolts.
42. SEPARATE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT SUB-ASSY
a. Loosen the sliding yoke bolt.
b. Place matchmarks on the intermediate shaft and control valve shaft.
c. Remove the bolt, and separate the steering intermediate shaft.
d. To prevent form rotating the steering wheel, fix the wheel with seat belt.
HINT: The operation is useful to prevent the damage of the spiral cable.
43. SEPARATE COMPRESSOR AND MAGNETIC CLUTCH
HINT: Hung up the hoses instead of detaching.
44. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH TRANSAXLE
a. Set the engine lifter.
b. Remove the 6 bolts, frame side rail plate sub-assembly RH and LH.
c. Remove the 6 bolts, front suspension member brace rear RH and LH.
d. Carefully, remove the engine assembly from the vehicle.
e. Install the 2 engine hangers as shown in the illustration.

Bolt 91512-1020
Torque: 38 Nm (387 kgf-cm, 28 inch lbs.)
f. Using the chain block and engine sling device, hang the engine assembly.
45. SEPARATE VANE PUMP ASSY
a. Separate the PS oil pressure switch connector.
b. Remove the 2 bolts and separate the vane pump from the engine.
46. REMOVE STABILIZER BAR FRONT (4WD DRIVE TYPE)
47. REMOVE RACK & PINION POWER STEERING GEAR ASSY (4WD DRIVE TYPE)
48. REMOVE FRONT FRAME ASSY
a. Remove a nut installing the engine mounting insulator LH.
b. Remove a nut installing the engine mounting insulator RH.
c. Remove a nut installing the engine mounting insulator FR.
d. Remove a nut installing the engine mounting insulator RR (4WD).
e. Raise the engine assembly and separate the front frame.
49. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSY RH (4WD DRIVE TYPE)
