Applicability

Introduction

Some customers may experience an abnormal or inoperative low pitched horn. A newly designed horn is now available. Follow the procedures outlined in this bulletin to address this condition.

APPLICABLE WARRANTY

^ This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

^ Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure

1. Remove the LH front fender splash shield sub-assembly.

A. Remove the screws and clips retaining the splash shield.





B. Partially remove the splash shield.

2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the horn assembly.

3. Install the NEW horn assembly.

Torque: 16-23 N*m





A. Check the clearance between the harness and the horn.





B. If the clearance between the harness and horn is less than 10 mm loosen the bolt and then re-install the horn at an angle (minimum of 300) as shown in Figure 3.

NOTE

Make sure there is sufficient clearance between the vehicle harness and the horn. (Minimum "A" clearance of 10 mm).

4. Reinstall the LH front fender splash shield sub-assembly.

A. Install the fender liner.

B. Install the screws and clips.

5. Confirm repair.
