Trunk / Liftgate: Service and Repair
DISASSEMBLY
1. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM BOARD
Using a screwdriver, remove the back door trim board.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
2. REMOVE SERVICE HOLE COVER
3. REMOVE BACK SPARE TIRE BRACKET
Remove the 4 bolts and back spare tire bracket.
4. REMOVE REAR WIPER ARM
5. REMOVE REAR WIPER MOTOR
a. Remove the grommet.
b. Disconnect the connector, then unfasten the 3 bolts.
c. Remove the rear wiper motor.
6. REMOVE DOOR LOCK
a. Remove the 3 screws and bolt.
b. Disconnect the connector.
c. Disconnect the 2 links then remove the door lock.
7. REMOVE BACK DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE
a. Remove the 3 plug hole covers.
b. Remove the 3 bolts and back door outside handle.
8. REMOVE BACK DOOR OUTSIDE GARNISH
a. Remove the 3 clips.
b. Insert a screwdriver between the door outside garnish and back door to remove the door outside garnish.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
c. Disconnect the license plate light connector.
9. REMOVE STOP LIGHT COVER
Using a screwdriver, remove the stop light cover.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
10. REMOVE UPPER SIDE GARNISHES
Using a screwdriver, remove the upper side garnishes.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
11. REMOVE STOP LIGHT
a. Remove the connector.
b. Remove the 2 screws and stop light.
12. REMOVE REAR SPOILER
Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and rear spoiler.
REASSEMBLY
1. INSTALL REAR SPOILER
Install the rear spoiler with the 2bolts and 2 nuts.
2. INSTALL STOP LIGHT
a. Connect the connector.
b. install the stop light with the 2 screws.
3. INSTALL UPPER SIDE GARNISHES
4. INSTALL STOP LIGHT COVER
5. INSTALL BACK DOOR OUTSIDE GARNISH
a. Connect the licence plate light connector.
b. Install the door outside garnish to the back door.
c. Install the 3 clips.
6. INSTALL BACK DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE
a. Install the door lock cylinder to the back door outside handle.
b. Install the back door outside handle with the 3 bolts.
c. Install the 3 plug hole covers.
7. INSTALL DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY
HINT: Apply MP grease to the sliding surface of the door lock control.
a. Connect the 2 links.
b. Install the door lock assembly through the service hole.
c. Connect the 2 links.
d. Connect the connector.
e. Install the door lock assembly with the 3 screws and bolt.
Torque: 5.0 N.m (50 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)
HINT: Apply adhesive to the 3 screws.
Part No. 08833-00070, THREE BOND 1324 or equivalent
8. INSTALL WIPER MOTOR
9. INSTALL REAR WIPER ARM
10. INSTALL BACK SPARE TIRE BRACKET
Install the back spare tire bracket with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 28 N.m (285 kgf.cm, 21 ft.lbf)
11. INSTALL SERVICE HOLE COVER
HINT: Pull out the links through the service hole cover.
