Maximum warpage
CYLINDER HEAD SET BOLT
Standard bolt length: 146.8 to 148.2 mm (5.780 to 5.835 inch)
Maximum bolt length: 148.5 mm (5.846 inch)
INTAKE MANIFOLD
Install a new gasket and the intake manifold with the 4 bolts and 2 nuts.
Torque:
Bolt A and nut A: 34 Nm (347 kgf-cm, 25 ft. lbs.)
Bolt B: 46 Nm (469 kgf-cm, 34 ft. lbs.)
MAIN BEARING CAP
Using SST, tighten the 10 bolts to the specified torque in several passes in the sequence shown.
SST 09011-38121
Torque: 22 Nm (224 kgf-cm, 16 ft. lbs.)
Using SST, retighten the 10 bolts to the specified torque in several passes in the sequence shown.
SST 09011-38121
Torque: 44 Nm (449 kgf-cm, 32 ft. lbs.)
Mark the front of each bearing cap bolt with paint.
Retighten each bearing cap bolts by 45° in two passes, in the numerical order shown.
Check that the paint mark of each bolt is now at a 90° angle to the front.
ROD BEARING CAP
Using SST, tighten the bolts to the specified torque in several passes in the sequence shown.
SST 09205-16010
Step 1: 30 Nm (306 kgf-cm, 22 ft. lbs.)
Step 2: Retighten bolts 90°.
CRANKSHAFT PULLEY
Torque: 120 Nm (1,224 kgf-cm 89 ft. lbs.)
FLYWHEEL
Using several steps, uniformly install and tighten the 8 bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque: 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft. lbs.)
OIL PUMP
Torque: 9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 inch lbs.)
EXHAUST MANIFOLD
Install a new gasket and the exhaust manifold with the 4 bolts and 2 nuts.
Torque bolt A and nut A: 50 Nm (510 kgf-cm, 37 ft. lbs.)
Torque bolt B: 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.)
WATER PUMP
Torque: 9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 inch lbs.)
CAMSHAFT
a. Apply engine oil to the camshaft journal parts.
b. Install the timing chain onto the camshaft timing gear with the painted link aligned with the timing mark of the camshaft timing sprocket as shown in the illustration.
c. Examine the front marks and numbers and check that the sequence order is as shown in the illustration. Then check the bolt.
Torque: 19 Nm (194 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.)
d. Put the No.2 camshaft on the cylinder head with the painted links of the chain aligned with the timing mark on the camshaft timing sprockets.
e. Tighten the set bolt temporarily.
f. Examine the front marks and numbers and check the sequence order is as shown in the illustration. Then check the bolts.
g. Hold the hexagonal lobe of the camshaft, then tighten the camshaft timing gear set bolt.
Torque: 54 Nm (551 kgf-cm, 40 ft. lbs.)
NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the valve lifter.
h. Check that the 2 matchmarks are aligned on the timing chain cover surface. Also, check that each timing mark is aligned with its corresponding painted link on the timing chain as shown in the illustration.
