Pre-Check
PRE-CHECK1. DETECTION RANGE MEASUREMENT AND INDICATOR CHECK
a. Turn the IG switch ON.
b. Move the shift lever to the R position (when the back sonar and rear clearance sonar is checked).
c. w/ Front clearance sonar:
Move the shift lever to the N position (when the front clearance sonar is checked).
NOTE: Apply the parking brake securely so that the vehicle does not move.
d. Turn the clearance sonar main switch ON.
e. Move the Dia 60 mm (2.36 in.) pole around the sensor to measure the detection range of the sensor.
NOTE: The measured detection range is for the Dia 60 mm (2.36 in.) pole. The detection range for wall and other obstacles is different.
f. Check the indicator and the buzzer sounding condition when the back sonar sensor detects an obstacle. Operation condition:
Operation condition:
HINT: Since sound wave is used for the detection range measurement, the detection range may vary a little due to the outside air temperature.
g. Check the indicator and the buzzer sounding condition when the rear clearance sonar sensor detects obstacle. Operation condition:
Operation condition:
HINT: Since sound wave is used for the detection range measurement, the detection range may vary a little due to the outside air temperature.
h. w/ Front clearance sonar:
Check the indicator and the buzzer sounding condition when the front clearance sonar sensor detects obstacle.
Operation condition:
HINT: Since sound wave is used for the detection range measurement, the detection range may vary a little due to the outside air temperature.
2. CHECKING INITIAL CHECK FUNCTION
a. Check the initial check function for the LED and buzzer. Turn the ignition switch and clearance main switch ON. Regardless of vehicle speed and shift position, approx. 0.4 sec. after the main switch is turned ON, operate each LED and buzzer for about 1.0 (+) 0.3 sec. Then move on to normal detecting operation.
If the LED or buzzer is faulty, the concerned LED and buzzer become as shown in the illustration.
HINT:
- If each LED, power indicator and buzzer is not turned on continuously when power is turned on, the wire is judged broken.
- However, after the system returns to be normal, it conducts normal operation.
b. Check the initial check function for the sensor.
Turn the ignition switch and clearance main switch ON. Regardless of vehicle speed and shift position, approx. 0.4 sec. after the main switch is turned ON, the ECU starts sensor checks for all the sensors.
After 1 (+) 0.3 sec., the checking operation suspends if the ECU detects a vehicle speed of 15 km/h or higher. Then, the operation shifts to the normal detecting operation when the ECU detects a shift position other than P position. If there is no changes in the vehicle speed, the checking operation halts after 5 (+) 0.3 sec. have elapsed.
- If even one sensor is found to have anomalies within 5 (+) 1 sec., the checking operation for all the sensors continues (w/ Front clearance sonar).
- If the sensor is found to have anomalous due to open or freezing for approx. 5 sec. or more, indications as shown in the illustration appear.
HINT:
- However, after the system returns to normal, it conducts normal operation.
- If one of the back sonar sensors detects a trouble, the other sensor does not perform detection any more.
3. ADJUST BUZZER VOLUME
a. Turn the knob for the clearance warning ECU Assy to adjust the volume.
