Introduction

The sliding door front striker plate and lock assembly on 2004 - 2006 model year Sienna vehicles have been redesigned in order to address customer complaints of rattles that occur under certain driving conditions. The improved front striker plate and lock assembly have a new coating that will reduce noise from contact between the front striker plate and the sliding door lock assembly when in the closed position.

^ 2004 model year Sienna vehicles produced BEFORE the Striker Plate Production Change Effective VINs shown in this TSB.

^ 2004 - 2006 model year Sienna vehicles produced AFTER the Striker Plate Production Change Effective VINs and BEFORE the Lock Assembly Production Change Effective VINs shown in this TSB.

Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty:
This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure 1

For vehicles produced BEFORE the Striker Plate Production Change Effective VINs, remove and replace the front striker plate and lock assemblies on both slide doors.

Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), 2004 model year Sienna Repair Manual:

Engine Hood/door: Slide Door: Adjustment and Overhaul.

Striker Plate Torque: 23 N.m (235 kgf.cm, 17 ft.lbf)

Lock Assembly Torque: 5 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)

Repair Procedure 2

For vehicles produced AFTER the Striker Plate Production Change Effective VINs and BEFORE the Lock Assembly Production Change Effective VINs, remove and replace the lock assemblies on both slide doors.
