Safing Sensor: Service and Repair
Air Bag Sensor Assy Center:
REPLACEMENT
1. PRECAUTION
Observe Air Bag Systems; Service Precautions.
2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
3. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LOWER LH
4. REMOVE FLOOR CARPET COVER CENTER LH
5. REMOVE FLOOR CARPET COVER CENTER RH
6. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY
7. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX NO.2
8. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY CENTER
9. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LOWER CENTER
10. REMOVE AIR DUCT REAR NO.4
11. REMOVE AIR DUCT REAR NO.3
12. REMOVE AIR DUCT REAR NO.1
13. REMOVE AIR BAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY CENTER
a. Disconnect the 3 connectors from the airbag sensor assembly center.
b. Remove the 3 bolts and the airbag sensor assembly center.
14. INSTALL AIR BAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY CENTER
a. Check that the ignition switch is OFF.
b. Check that the battery negative (-) terminal is disconnected.
NOTE: Do not start the operation for 90 seconds after removing the terminal.
c. Temporarily install the airbag sensor assembly center with the 3 bolts.
NOTE:
- Installation of the connector is performed with the airbag sensor assembly center installed. Make sure the airbag sensor assembly center is installed with the specified torque.
- If the airbag sensor assembly center has been dropped, or there are cracks, dents or other defects in the case, bracket or connector, replace the airbag sensor assembly center with a new one.
- When installing the airbag sensor assembly center, take care that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and is not pinched between other parts.
d. Tighten the 3 bolts to the specified torque.
Torque: 17.5 N.m (178 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)
e. Connect the connector to the air bag sensor assembly center.
f. Check that no play is identified.
g. Check that the water-proof sheet is properly set.
