On-Vehicle Inspection
ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION1. INSPECT IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY AND SPARK PLUG
a. Check the DTCs.
NOTE: If a DTC is present, perform troubleshooting in accordance with the procedure for that DTC.
b. Check that sparks occur.
1. Remove the circuit opening relay.
2. Remove the V-bank cover.
3. Remove the air cleaner.
4. Disconnect the ventilation hose.
5. Remove the 6 ignition coils.
6. Using a 16 mm spark plug wrench, remove the 6 spark plugs.
7. Install each spark plug into an ignition coil, then connect the ignition coil connectors.
8. Ground the spark plugs.
9. Check that sparks occur at each spark plug while the engine is being cranked.
NOTE:
- Be sure to ground the spark plugs when checking.
- Replace the ignition coil if it has been dropped or subjected to any other impact.
- Do not crank the engine for more than 2 seconds.
