INTRODUCTION:

In vehicles equipped with the Smart Key system, the starting function may not be operational after recharging a discharged battery or jump starting the vehicle. If battery voltage drops below 9V, the Steering Lock ECU may need to be re-initialized. Follow the initialization procedure below to re-initialize the Steering Lock ECU.

APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
- 2005 -- 2007 model year Avalon vehicles.
- 2007 model year Camry vehicles.

INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE:

1. Confirm that the DCC fuse is installed.

NOTE:
If DCC fuse is NOT installed, install at this time.


2. Place the shift lever in the "P" position.
3. Open and close the driver's side door.

NOTE:
If DCC fuse is NOT installed, install at this time.


NOTE:
This will start an initialization process between the Steering Lock ECU and the Junction Block ECU.


4. Depress the brake pedal.
5. Press the engine "START STOP" switch.
6. Re-initialize any affected power systems.

2005 model year Avalon:
- Refer to TSB No. 2173, "Initialization of Power Window During PDS".

2006 model year Avalon:
- Refer to TSB No. 2303, "Initialization of Power Window During PDS".

2007 model year Avalon:
- Refer to TSB No. 2585, "Initialization of Sliding Roof During PDS".
- Refer to TSB No. 2582, "Initialization of Power Window During PDS".
