Introduction

Some 2006 model year Tacoma vehicles equipped with the 2TR-FE engine may experience a M.I.L "ON" condition with DTC P0102 (Mass Air Flow Circuit Low Input). An improvement has been made to the mass air flow (MAF) connector to correct this condition.

Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty*:
This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.





Required SSTs

Repair Procedure

1. To start diagnosis of the vehicle for DTC P0102, refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), 2006 model year Tacoma Repair Manual: 2TR-FE Engine Control System: SF1 System: P0102.

2. Connect the Diagnostic Tester to DLC3.

3. Start the engine.

4. On the Diagnostic Tester select: DIAGNOSIS! ENHANCED OBD II! DATA LIST! PRIMARY! MAF.

5. Monitor the mass air flow sensor (MAF) reading.





6. If value drops to 0 grams per second, inspect the mass air flow sensor connector terminals E2G and VG terminals for intermittent open.

7. Replace affected terminals. Refer to TIS, 2006 model year Tacoma Collision Repair: Wire Harness Repair.

NOTE:
New connector housing is ONLY required if damage occurs during terminal replacement.
