Front Airbag Sensor

Front Airbag Sensor:




FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR

REMOVAL

HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures described below are for the LH side.

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION: Read PRECAUTION thoroughly before servicing, (Refer to Restraint Systems; Service Precautions).

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait for at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag from working.

3. REMOVE RADIATOR GRILLE
4. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER COVER




5. REMOVE FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR LH
a. Remove the 2 bolts.
b. Disengage the 2 claws and the front airbag sensor LH.




c. Disconnect the connector from the front airbag sensor LH.

INSTALLATION

HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures described below are for the LH side.

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION: Read PRECAUTION thoroughly before servicing, (Refer to Restraint Systems; Service Precautions).

2. INSTALL FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR LH
a. Check that the ignition switch is turned to OFF.
b. Check that the negative (-) battery terminal is disconnected.

CAUTION: After disconnecting the negative battery terminal, wait for at least 90 seconds before starting the operation.




c. Connect the connector to the front airbag sensor LH.




d. Install the front airbag sensor LH with the 2 bolts.

Torque: 9.0 N.m (92 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf)

NOTE:
- If the front airbag sensor LH has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace it with a new one.
- When installing the front airbag sensor LH, make sure that the SRS wiring does not interfere with any other parts and that it is not pinched between other parts.

e. Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the front airbag sensor LH.

3. INSTALL FRONT BUMPER COVER
4. INSTALL RADIATOR GRILLE
5. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

Torque: 3.9 N.m (40 kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf)

6. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

HINT: Some systems need initialization when the cable has been disconnected from the negative battery terminal.

7. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
a. Inspect the SRS warning light.
