Component Tightening Specifications and Sequences

CYLINDER HEAD LH





Install and uniformly tighten the 10 cylinder head bolts and plate washers in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque 40 N*m (408 kgf*cm, 30 ft.*lbf)





Mark the front of the cylinder head bolt's head with paint.
Retighten the cylinder head bolts by 90° in the numerical order shown above.
Retighten the cylinder head bolts by an additional 90°.
Check that the painted mark is now at a 180° angle to the front.


CYLINDER HEAD RH





Install and uniformly tighten the 10 cylinder head bolts, and plate washers in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque 40 N*m (408 kgf*cm, 30 ft.*lbf)





Mark the front of the cylinder head bolt's head with paint.
Retighten the cylinder head bolts by 90° in the numerical order shown above.
Retighten the cylinder head bolts by an additional 90°.
Check that the painted mark is now at a 180° angle to the front.


CAMSHAFT BEARING CAP








Uniformly tighten the 22 bearing cap bolts in several passes in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Bolts 21 and 22 Torque: 7.5 N*m (76 kgf*cm, 66 ft.*lbf)
Other bolts Torque 16 N*m (163 kgf*cm, 12 ft.*lbf)


CRANKSHAFT BEARING








Install and uniformly tighten the 10 crankshaft bearing cap bolts in several passes in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque 27 N*m (275 kgf*cm, 20 ft.*lbf)
If any of the bearing cap bolts cannot meet the torque specification, replace the bearing cap bolt.





Mark the front of the crankshaft bearing cap bolt's head with paint.
Tighten the crankshaft bearing cap bolts another 90° as shown in the illustration.
Check that the painted mark is now at a 90° angle to the front.
Check that the crankshaft turns smoothly.


CONNECTING ROD CAP
Install and alternately tighten the 2 connecting rod cap bolts in several passes.
Torque 24.5 N*m (250 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf)





Mark the front of the connecting cap bolt with paint.
Tighten the cap bolts another 90° as shown in the illustration.
Check that the painted mark is now at a 90° angle to the front.


DRIVE PLATE





Install the front spacer, drive plate and rear spacer on the crankshaft.
Install and uniformly tighten the 8 mounting bolts in several passes, in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque 49 N*m (500 kgf*cm, 36 ft.*lbf)
If any of the mounting bolts cannot meet the torque specification, replace the mounting bolt.





Mark the mounting bolts with paint.
Tighten the mounting bolts another 90° in the same sequence shown in the step above.
Check that the painted mark is now at a 90° angle.


OIL PUMP





Install the oil pump with the 8 bolts. Uniformly tighten the bolts in several passes.
Bolt A, B, C and E Torque 15.5 N*m (158 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf)
Bolt D Torque 30.5 N*m (311 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf)


EXHAUST MANIFOLD LH





Install the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head with 8 new nuts in the order shown in the illustration.
Torque 44 N*m (449 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf)
