INTRODUCTION:
Some 2006 - 2009 model year RAV4 vehicles may exhibit M.I.L. "ON" DTCs caused by water or debris entry into the evaporative control system. The evaporative control system has been updated to address this concern. Use the repair procedure below to address customer concerns.

NOTE
- Additional Techstream units may be ordered by completing the order form on ETAS and faxing it to (416) 431-8342.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Using ETAS Techstream, check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). If DTCs P043E, P043F, P2401, P2402, and P2419 are ALL present, Refer to the Repair Manual within E-TAS / TIS library:

2. Replace the charcoal canister and charcoal canister filter if any water or debris is noted within the EVAP system.
3. Remove and discard the No. 2 fuel tank protector.
4. Install the fuel tank protector.
Use the illustrations as reference for parts replacement and installation:
5. Clear DTCs
6. Perform the Automatic EVAP System Check and verify that NO pending DTCs set.
System Select > Engine and ECT > Utility > EVAP System Check
NOTE
If Automatic EVAP System Check fails to run, perform the following:
- Turn the ignition key OFF.
- Turn ETAS Techstream OFF.
- Turn the ignition key ON and ETAS Techstream ON and restart Automatic EVAP System Check.
